Commitment That Pleases God
Luke 9:62- “And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.”
Commitment is the unwavering decision to remain faithful to God regardless of circumstances. It is the quality that keeps you serving when others have stopped, praying when answers seem delayed, and believing when the outcome is not yet visible.
In today’s world, commitment is becoming increasingly rare. Many people are enthusiastic at the beginning but lose interest when challenges arise. However, God is not looking for occasional followers but for committed disciples. Commitment is proven not by how you start but by how faithfully you continue.
Throughout Scripture, God honoured men and women who remained committed. Noah faithfully built the ark despite ridicule. Ruth refused to leave Naomi because of her commitment to both Naomi and God. Daniel remained committed to prayer even when it meant facing the lions’ den. The Apostle Paul stayed committed to preaching the gospel despite persecution, imprisonment, and hardship.
True commitment is not based on convenience but on conviction. It is choosing obedience over comfort, faithfulness over feelings, and God’s will over personal preference.
Ask yourself today:
Am I committed to my relationship with God? Am I consistent in prayer and studying His Word? Am I faithful in serving God’s house. Can God rely on me to finish what He has called me to do?
The Christian life is not a sprint but a marathon. Those who remain committed to the end will experience God’s rewards, fulfil their purpose, and hear the words, “Well done, good and faithful servant.”
Remain steadfast. Stay faithful. Keep your eyes on Jesus. Your labour in the Lord will never be in vain.
Commitment to God is measured not by moments of excitement but by a lifetime of faithful obedience.
