Let No Man Despise You
1 Timothy 4:12 Let no man despise your youth, but be an example to all believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.
Most times in life, when we want to take certain actions or make certain decisions, people tell us that we are not enough, that we are not qualified, that we don’t have enough education, enough resources, or enough connections. These voices are so loud that we tend to believe them. We hear ourselves saying, ‘Only if I had more education’, ‘Only if I was born or married into so and so family’, etc.
Our key scripture of today tells us not to let any man despise us. Irrespective of where you come from, your educational qualification, your gender, your colour, your height or any other metrics of measurement, nobody is qualified to despise or look down on you. You are not even permitted to despise or look down on yourself.
Scripture commands us to be an example to other people in the way we think, speak, act, and in everything. We are called to stand out, to be distinguished, and be honourable in all our conducts. We must refuse mediocrity. We must see ourselves only in the way that God sees us and not in the way people see us. We cannot abandon God’s plans and purpose for us to be fit into the moulds of men.
Refuse to be oppressed or intimated or despised by anybody. Do not believe that you are not enough, that you are not qualified. God does not always call the qualified; He calls the available and makes them qualified for His use. The blood of Jesus has qualified you. Get up and take that step. You cannot be limited.
