One Thing Is Needful
Proverbs 4:20–21: My son, give attention to my words; incline your ear to my sayings. 21Do not let them depart from your eyes; keep them in the midst of your heart;
George Müller, who lived in the 1800s, cared for about 10,000 orphans in total in his five large orphanages. But he never allowed his huge responsibility to take him away from the Word of God. He said that every day, he would set aside time to study the scriptures until his inner man was happy in the Lord.
Once, Müller met a man who worked between 14 and 16 hours every day. He told the man, “You are destroying your health. You don’t have time for your family and, most importantly, you don’t have time to nourish your inner man with the Word of God.”
The man replied, “I hear you, but I can’t see how I can cut down my working hours and spend time in the Word because even with the 14 to 16 hours I put in each day, I still can’t put enough bread on the table for my family.”
As the man walked away, Müller said, “He doesn’t believe that if he gives time to God’s Word first, God will take care of all his needs.”
Likewise, do you really believe that every day, only one thing is needful? Even if the bills don’t get paid, the children are not making any headway in their studies and the office work is not completed, all these things can wait. Only one thing is needful — that you spend time in the Word of God.
When Martha complained to Jesus that her sister Mary had left her to serve alone (Mary was sitting at Jesus’ feet and hearing His Word), Jesus defended Mary by saying, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things. But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her.” (Luke 10:41–42)
My friend, you will not lose out when you take time to sit down and listen to God’s Word. Even your health and well-being will be blessed. (Proverbs 4:22) So take time today to meditate on His Word. It will make your way prosperous (Joshua 1:8–9), and give you divine health and good success!

Praise the Lord, I will be a partaker and not a spectator of God’s blessings! When we put time and effort into getting to know the Lord more, we are partakers in the blessings that come from knowing and doing God’s word! Regardless of what is not completed, God’s word should not be incomplete in our lives. Spending time daily in His word and communicating with Him in prayer is needful. It must be a priority! It’s the only way we can truly know where to go, what to do, what decision to make; it keeps us out of trouble and keeps us walking right in the eyes of God. In the beginning was the word… all things were made by him and without him was nothing made that was made… In the word is life… When we have this life, we become the light to others… We shine even in darkness and overcome always.
There is nothing that can be made or achieved without the word, no life, no light, no shining, no victory.
It is in the word we can see our picture, know the thoughts of God concerning us that will give us the future and the expected end God has for us.

Lord may i incline to your word as your word is food to my soul, it will fill me up. The word is is my voice. In the beginning was the word and the word is God. So when i have the word in me i have God , the holyspirit in me. For me to have a voice is because i have the word in me.

Amen! Even Christ Jesus was able to use The Word to silence the devil, so who are we not to equip ourselves with The Word of God. After all The Word of God is a source of inspiration, provides clarity and solution, warns and guides us on how to make decisions in life, is our evidence for God to keep to His promises/prophecy’s over our lives and brings life to every situation we apply it to. The Word of God is our Source to every resource that we need. The Word of God carries great values and deserves to be prioritised in our lives. We only have to start from somewhere to enable it to become a meaningful habit in our life before it becomes like flesh on our bodies. The beauty about The Word of God is that we even have creative ways to really soak it in from the different versions we can use, to the audible reads, guided/steps templates for daily reading The Word to even detailed shows like The Chosen. It is not enough to receive The Word when people tell us, we need to believe it, meditate on it day and night and engage in fulfilling The Word to really understand the mind of God, embrace the lifestyle of Christ and truly navigate through this world (with the Holy Spirit) to achieve God’s purpose in our lives. Therefore this year whatever it takes I will be found seeking His face through His Word daily and I am reassured that there is no loss in taking time to sit down and listen to His Word. For His Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. Hallelujah.
