Overcoming Fear with Faith
“For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.” – 2 Timothy 1:7 (ESV)
Fear is a universal emotion. It’s something that we all experience at some point in our lives. Whether it’s the fear of failure, the fear of the unknown, or the fear of rejection, fear can often feel like a constant companion. It can paralyze us, hold us back from reaching our potential, and keep us from pursuing God’s calling for our lives. But God’s Word tells us that fear does not come from Him. Instead, He has given us a spirit of power, love, and self-control.
In 2 Timothy 1:7, Paul reminds us that the fear we experience is not from God. The spirit that He has given us is the opposite of fear. The Holy Spirit equips us with the power to stand strong, the love to embrace others, and the self-control to choose faith over fear. This is the kind of spirit that equips us to face the challenges and uncertainties of life with courage and confidence.
There’s a powerful story about a woman named Linda who struggled with the fear of failure. Linda had always dreamed of starting her own business, but the thought of failing and letting others down was paralyzing. Every time she thought about taking the first step, fear gripped her heart. “What if I fail? What if no one buys my product? What if I let people down?” These thoughts echoed in her mind, preventing her from moving forward.
But one day, as Linda was praying, she read 2 Timothy 1:7, and the verse stood out to her like never before. God spoke to her heart, reminding her that fear was not the spirit He had given her. She was reminded that God had already equipped her with everything she needed to move forward—the power to succeed, the love to serve others, and the self-control to keep going, even when fear tried to creep in.
With newfound courage, Linda decided to take the first step. She invested in her business, launched her product, and trusted God to guide her every move. Of course, there were obstacles along the way, and there were moments when fear tried to resurface. But each time, Linda remembered the truth of God’s Word—fear is not from God. Instead of letting fear control her, she chose to stand firm in God’s power, love, and self-control.
Over time, Linda’s business began to thrive. She found that when she faced her fears head-on and trusted God, He gave her the strength and wisdom she needed to succeed. Fear didn’t disappear overnight, but Linda learned that faith in God was a much stronger force than fear. She also realized that sometimes, the most courageous thing we can do is simply take that first step, even when fear is present.
Like Linda, many of us are held back by fear. Fear keeps us from pursuing our dreams, taking risks, and stepping into God’s calling. But God has equipped us with a spirit of power, love, and self-control. We don’t have to let fear control us anymore. We can choose to step out in faith, knowing that God is with us every step of the way.
If fear is holding you back today, remember this: God has not given you a spirit of fear. He has given you a spirit of power to overcome, love to push through, and self-control to remain focused on His promises. Choose to walk in faith today, knowing that God’s power is greater than any fear you face.

HALLELUJAH, THEREFORE NO WEAPON THAT FORMED OR FASHIONED AGAINST ME AND MY FAMILY SHALL PROSPER. IN JESUS MIGHTY AND UNDEFEATED AND UNFAILING NAME AMEN. (ISAIAH 54 V 17)
I PLEAD THE BLOOD OF JESUS CHRIST OVER THE FRUITS OF MY WOMB AND THE FRUITS OF THEIR WOMB AND THEIR WOMB.
I WILL WALK IN FAITH BEFORE GOD RATHER THAN FEAR.
I AM WALKING IN A PLACE OF OVERWHELMING VICTORY AND IN SUPERNATURAL INCREASE IN ABUNDANCE.
CONFESSION:
“I REFUSE TO LIVE IN FEAR BECAUSE GOD HAS GIVEN ME A SPIRIT OF POWER, LOVE, AND SELF-CONTROL. I TRUST IN GOD’S PLAN FOR MY LIFE, AND I WALK FORWARD IN FAITH, KNOWING THAT HE WILL GIVE ME THE STRENGTH TO OVERCOME EVERY OBSTACLE. FEAR HAS NO PLACE IN MY LIFE, FOR I AM FILLED WITH HIS POWER AND PEACE.
HIS PLAN FOR ME IS OF GOOD NOT TO HURT ME, BUT TO GIVE JE A HOPE AND A FUTURE. JEREMAIAH 29 V 11.

But faith in God is much stronger force than fear so exercise your faith in God.
