Redeeming the Time – Part 2
Ephesians 5:15–16 (NKJV)- “See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil.
When we stand before Christ, He won’t ask how much time we had, but how we used it. Did we live for ourselves, or for Him? Did we waste our moments on what fades or invest them in what lasts forever?
Redeeming the time doesn’t mean living under pressure—it means living with purpose. Each day is a fresh opportunity to align our hearts with God’s will, to shine His light in dark places, and to use our fleeting moments for eternal good.

- Grace for Lost Time.
Many of us look back and see wasted years — time lost to sin, fear, or aimlessness. But the beauty of God’s grace is that He can redeem even our past time. Joel 2:25 says, “I will restore to you the years that the locust has eaten.” God can bring fruitfulness where barrenness once was. If we surrender our days to Him now, He can turn regret into redemption and delay into divine timing. - Recognizing the Urgency.
Paul adds a sobering reason: “because the days are evil.” The world around us is filled with spiritua l darkness, moral confusion, and distractions designed to dull our awareness of eternity. Evil days make it easy to waste precious time on what doesn’t matter.
We are not promised tomorrow. James 4:14 reminds us, “You do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour that appears for a little time and then vanishes away.”
Every breath is a gift, every moment an opportunity to make a difference for the Kingdom. Redeeming the time isn’t about doing more—it’s about doing what matters most.
Practical Ways to Redeem the Time.
Here are some intentional ways to live this truth daily:
▪︎ Start with God. Begin each day in prayer and Scripture. Ask the Holy Spirit to order your steps (Psalm 37:23).
▪︎ Set priorities. Not everything urgent is important. Learn to say “no” to good things so you can say “yes” to the best things.
▪︎ Love people well. Relationships are eternal. Take time to listen, encourage, and forgive.
▪︎ Serve with joy. Look for opportunities to bless others, even in small ways. God multiplies simple acts done in faith.
▪︎ Guard against distractions. Social media, worry, and busyness can steal our focus. Be mindful of what consumes your attention.
▪︎ Live with eternity in view. Colossians 3:2 says, “Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth.” Measure your choices by their eternal impact.
