Seeking First the Kingdom
“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness.” — Matthew 6:33
Let us consider our priorities. Every life is shaped by what it seeks first: whether knowingly or unknowingly. Our time, energy, and resources reveal what we value most.
Jesus speaks directly to the worries that compete for our attention and offers a better way to live. This devotion invites us to realign our focus and place God’s kingdom at the center of our lives. As we listen, may we allow God to reorder our priorities and renew our trust in His provision.
Jesus spoke these words to people burdened by worry, worry about provision, tomorrow, and survival. Rather than dismissing their concerns, He redirected their focus.
Spiritual focus begins with priority. To seek first the kingdom of God means to place God’s will above our own, His purposes above our plans, and His values above worldly standards.
When God is first, everything else falls into place. When God is second, nothing is secure.
Seeking the kingdom is not a one-time decision; it is a daily commitment. It affects how we spend our time, how we use our resources, how we treat others, and how we respond to challenges.
Jesus promises that when our focus is on the eternal, God will faithfully provide for the temporary.
