Taking the leap of faith
Hebrews 11:1– “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”
In the dance of life, there comes a moment when God calls us to take a leap – a step beyond the familiar, a venture into the unknown. It’s a divine invitation to trust in the One who holds the future and to embrace the adventure of faith. Hebrews 11:1 defines faith beautifully, “Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.” Taking the leap of faith involves stepping out with the assurance that God’s promises are secure, even if the path is obscured by uncertainty.
Consider the story of Peter walking on water. In Matthew 14:29, Jesus invites Peter to step out of the boat and walk towards Him. Peter’s leap of faith was met with the sustaining power of Christ. Yet, when he shifted his focus to the storm, doubt crept in. Jesus’ outstretched hand reminds us that even in moments of faltering faith, He is there to lift us up. Taking a leap of faith requires obedience. When God calls, He equips. Proverbs 3:5-6 encourages, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways, acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.” Acknowledge God in every step, seeking His guidance and trusting in His leading.
Fear may whisper in the face of the unknown, but 2 Timothy 1:7 reminds us, For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. Release fear and embrace the power, love, and sound mind bestowed upon you through the Holy Spirit. Taking the leap of faith is an act of surrender. It’s saying, “Lord, I trust You with my present and my future.” Psalm 37:5 encourages, “Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him, and he will act.” As you leap, know that God is the solid ground beneath you.
