The Gift of Men
Exodus 17:12 – But Moses’ hands became heavy; so they took a stone and put it under him, and he sat on it. And Aaron and Hur supported his hands, one on one side, and the other on the other side; and his hands were steady until the going down of the sun.
You must have heard people say that man is a social animal. This isn’t far from the truth. After creation, the first thing that God said was not good was that man was alone. God never designed that man should be alone. This is why He was quick to form a help mate for him. The bible tells us that one will chase a thousand but two will chase ten thousand. That is geometric progression.
Most great men in the bible needed the help of others to fulfill purpose. Moses needed Aaron. Saul needed Samuel. David needed Jonathan and Joab. Elijah had Elisha. Jeremiah had Baruch. Even Jesus had His twelve apostles. Paul had Silas, and later Barnabas. The list goes on and on. A philosopher once said that if you want to travel fast, travel alone. But if you want to travel far, travel with a friend.
In the key scriptures for today, Joshua led the Israelites to fight against Amalek while Moses held up his hand for them on the mountain. Whenever Moses’ hands were up, the Israelites prevailed but when his hands dropped, the Amalekites prevailed. At some point, Moses got tired and his hands were drooping but Aaron and Hur had to hold up his hands for Israel to maintain its victory.
The importance of good friendship and relationships cannot be overemphasized. It is true that all blessings come from God but I haven’t seen God throw down blessings from heaven. He sends blessings to us through other men. This is why we must strive to maintain and nurture certain relationships. Many people come into our lives to support us and help us climb the ladder of success. We cannot enjoy God’s blessings through people that we despise. It is important to honor the men that God has placed in our lives. God has placed these people in our lives; it is our duty to honour them and harness the favour they bring.

God seldomly sends things from heaven e.g manner but he from time to time raise men in order to help another man.
So it is therefore important to be sensitive to those who God has raised to help you: maintain and honour such relationships.
