The God Of More-Than-Enough
Luke 5:9- For he and all who were with him were astonished at the catch of fish which they had taken;
As a young Christian, I grew up hearing preachers say that God only supplies our needs, not our wants. Yet, in the Bible, God clearly shows us that He wants to meet not just our needs, but also our wants.
For example, the famous “shepherd psalm” begins with “The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want”. (Psalm 23:1) Another psalm says, “Oh, fear the Lord, you His saints! There is no want to those who fear Him. The young lions lack and suffer hunger; but those who seek the Lord shall not lack any good thing.” (Psalm 34:9–10)
One of the names of our God is Jehovah Jireh, which means “the all-providing One”. He provides more than enough. The God of more-than-enough came in the flesh and walked among His people. And as He walked by the Sea of Galilee, He did not give His disciples small blessings. That is why He said to Peter, “Launch out into the deep and let down your nets [plural] for a catch,” (Luke 5:4) and not “let down your net [singular]”. And what a catch it turned out to be — a boat-sinking, net-breaking catch! It was such a big and unexpected blessing that Peter and all who were with him were “astonished at the catch of fish which they had taken”.
Beloved, see God’s heart for you today. He wants to prosper you. Don’t settle for anything less, thinking that He only supplies your needs and not your wants. If you need a job, know that He wants you to pray not just for a job, but for a position. When you have a position, you have influence and you are able to impact lives. Maybe what you need is a pay increment. Then, pray not just for that, but also to be in a position to give increments!
You may start out poor when you follow God. But you cannot remain in lack when you follow the God of more-than-enough. In fact, like Peter, you too will be astonished that God supplies more than what you need and beyond what you have asked!

Don’t forget that God is a miracle-working God. When we give Him our natural things, He blesses them and turns them into supernatural manifestations of His power, love, and provision. When we allow the God of More Than Enough to be more than enough for us our cups runs over, overflow of his spirit, overflow of his love, overflow of his blessings, overflow of hus mercies.

Just imagine if Peter had said NO LORD, WE HAVE BEEN TOLLING ALL NIGHT. NEARLY HALF THE OCEAN 🌊. AS IF WE CAN EVER DO SUCH A THING. HE WOULD NOT HAVE SEEN OR KNOW THAT TRULY GOD IS THE GOD OF ALL PROVISIONS.
EVEN IN MY WALK WITH GOD, HAD I GIVEN UP BECAUSE OF MY PASSED EXPERIENCES, I WOULD NOT SEE ETI AND IVIE WITH THEIR CHILDREN WORSHIPPING GOD TOGETHER WITH ME AT THE REFUGE CHURCH. GLORY BE TO THE MOST HIGH GOD JEHOVAH JIREH. PROVIDER OF ALL.

Hallelujah, wow, this really helped me to know that I’m not asking God for enough! “Instead of asking God for a job, ask Him for a position” that is so powerful. We are not troubling God when we ask Him for what we want. He is our heavenly Father and He wants to give us gifts as His children. Amen! We need to see God beyond that of a normal Father. He has a great heart that not only supplies our needs, but goes beyond to provide and grace us (and those around us/generations to come) with boat-sinking, net-breaking and unexpected blessings. He goes beyond what we could even ask or think.
His Word shows us that those who seek the Lord shall not lack any good thing. Which means any area where we are limiting God in our mind, when we seek Him whole heartedly we will experience and begin to see Him as our true Abba Father, the one who changes our story and situation to testimonies, even when we don’t deserve it. Our selfless God who enables us not just to desire an increment but to be the giver of increments. It could only be God! May seek for a heart like Christ and place /attach importance on our child to Father relationship with God. For the God of more-than-enough wants to meet not just my needs, but also my wants. Wao, the GOD who is more than enough.
Following from the GOD who is the I AM.
We limit God by How we see Him and the way we see our situations or ourselves.
If we see God small, He will be small in our lives (though that does not make Him small). If we see Him as only a job provider and not the one who establishes a man
to provide job for others, He will just be that way.
The realities of God in our lives is defined by how we see Him.
He is the Health that swallows any kind of infirmity that it will be as of the person was never sick.
He is the Wealth that swallows up poverty
He is the Glory that swallows up shame
He is the Light that swallows up every darkness
In Yoruba they will say “kokoro gbe nkan mi senu wuye”. He is the GOD that swallows up every problem like they never existed. Chei… What a Marvelous GOD.
Economists tell us that our wants are insatiable so we need to have scale of preference but we have a GOD who is able to satisfy all our wants no matter how many they are.
I HAIL THEE OH GOD.
Jesus said in Mark 10:51…What do you want me to do for you…
Just as He is still asking us today…
What do we want? Not what do we need?
