The God Who Restores – Part 2
Scripture:
“I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten, the hopper, the destroyer, and the cutter, my great army, which I sent among you.” – Joel 2:25 (ESV)
Restoration is one of the most powerful promises in Scripture. The word itself means “to bring back, to renew, to make whole again.” We often think of restoration as God simply giving us back what we lost—but His restoration always goes deeper. He not only restores things but also restores hearts, faith, relationships, time, and purpose.
In the book of Joel, the people of Israel experienced devastation. Locusts had consumed their land, stripping away crops and leaving nothing but barrenness behind. Their loss was both physical and spiritual—without harvests. They had no livelihood, no offering, and no hope. Yet in the midst of this, God spoke a word of promise: “I will restore to you the years…”
Notice that He didn’t just say “I’ll restore your crops” or “I’ll restore your food supply.” He promised to restore the years—time itself. We often think wasted years are gone forever, but God is not bound by time. He is able to redeem lost seasons, wasted opportunities, and broken dreams. What we see as wasted can be turned into fertile ground for new beginnings by God.
Biblical Examples of God’s Restoration: Job’s Story (Job 42:10–12): Job lost everything—his wealth, his family, his health. Yet, in the end, God restored to him double what he had before. His restoration wasn’t only material—it was relational and spiritual, as Job encountered God in a deeper way.
Peter’s Restoration (John 21:15–19): After denying Jesus three times, Peter felt disqualified. Yet Jesus sought him out after the resurrection, restoring him with forgiveness and recommissioning him to feed His sheep. Restoration gave Peter the courage to lead the early church.
The Prodigal Son (Luke 15:11–24): Though he squandered his inheritance, the father welcomed him back, restoring him to sonship with a robe, a ring, and a feast. This reminds us that restoration is not about what we deserve but about God’s mercy.

Dear God,
Please 🙏🏿 restore me, I cannot fail. I look up to you where my help comet from. Restore my spirit, restore the fire on me to seek you first, restore my health, my wealth, my finance, my career, my businesses, my ideas. Father please restore me MOT style. In Jesus name. Amen

At the base of restoration is mercy. So though you may not deserve it, it has been paid for by Jesus.
Know this also, when God is restoring, he is able not just to restore what is lost but the time wasted. Hallelujah
