They that Know their God
Daniel 11:32– Those who do wickedly against the covenant he shall corrupt with flattery; but the people who know their God shall be strong, and carry out great exploits.
You see, it is very easy for people to think that they know God. Just because you attend church or that your parents are ministers does not mean that you know God. You can pray and read your bible daily and still not know God. You can listen to messages on your phone and sing anointed songs and still not know Him. You can keep all religious observations and still be far from God.
What then does it mean to know God? Knowing God is experiential. It entails having a personal relationship with Him. It means knowing God’s desires and having a willingness to do them. It involves hearing God’s instructions and walking in obedience to them. To know God is to love Him and care about how He feels. Knowing God goes beyond what you have heard from your pastor or any minister for that matter.
Knowing about God is different from knowing God. So many people know about God – how powerful and mighty He is, the miracles He has done – but they do not know Him as a person. Most of the patriarchs experienced God in different capacities and that influenced the names they called Him. Abraham experienced Him as a provider and called Him Jehovah Jireh. The Prophet Samuel experienced Him as defender and called Him Ebenezer. He is called Jehovah Rapha (God the Healer), Jehovah Shalom (God of Peace). What do you know God as?
What did scripture say about those who know God? The bible says that they shall be strong and do exploits. The implication is that those who don’t know God shall be weak and exploited. Are you constantly falling prey to oppression, affliction, sickness, demonic manipulation etc? It might be a sign that you don’t really know God. It might be a sign of spiritual exploitation. It’s time for you to ask God to reveal Himself to you.
