This is Not Your Rest
Micah 2:10 – Arise and depart, for this is not your rest; because it is polluted, it shall destroy you, even with a sore destruction
Everyone that you know in life is in one stage or phase of their lives. For some, it is a phase of fallow, dryness, difficulty, challenge. Trying to figure out the next step in life, overcoming that hurdle in career, deciding on life partner, what church to attend, what training you have to do, how you ought to deal with that unruly child – all of these – can be confusing, frustrating, and overwhelming. But the good news is that it is just a phase; it will pass.
It might even be that you have been in that debt for too long and you have started accepting it as God’s final destination for you. God id telling you today that it is not your rest, it is not your final destination. Is there a particular sin or habit that you are trying to breaking free from but it’s looking impossible and you have settled in it as normal, the Lord is telling you today to arise and depart as He has better plans for you; He has a better destination that He is taking you.
Some other people think that they have arrived their promise lands because of the good things they are enjoying at the moment. It is important that I remind you that the mercies and blessings of God are new every morning. Despite how much of God you have seen already, there is more that you are yet to imagine. In fact, the greatest enemy of the best is the good because you will think that it cannot get any better. But let me surprise with the word of God in Proverbs 4:18. It says that the path of the just is as the shining light that shines more and more unto the perfect day.
Never rest on your laurels. There is more to God and His faithfulness than you have seen. That state of sin is polluted. Arise and depart before it destroys you. That blessing that you are enjoying at the moment is but the finger of God. You must arise and depart so that you can see His hand. This is not your rest. Arise and depart! God’s call is a higher call. We must walk with Him till the end.
