Walking Forward with God
Proverbs 3:5–6 (NIV)– Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.
The new year often finds us still full of expectations. We have written goals, imagined outcomes, and envisioned progress. Yet, Scripture gently reminds us that the success of our journey does not lie merely in careful planning but in complete dependence on God.
To trust in the Lord with all your heart means more than believing God exists, it means placing full confidence in His character, wisdom, and timing. It requires releasing our grip on control and acknowledging that God’s understanding far exceeds ours. Often, we want God to bless plans we have already made, instead of allowing Him to shape the plans from the beginning.
Leaning on our own understanding can lead to anxiety, frustration, and disappointment, especially when life does not unfold as expected. But when we submit our ways to God, our careers, families, finances, health, ministry, and future. He promises to direct our paths. A “straight path” does not always mean an easy one; it means a purposeful one, aligned with God’s will and leading us toward spiritual maturity.
At the start of this year, God invites us to walk with Him daily, step by step. Each day becomes meaningful when it is surrendered to Him. Today is an opportunity to reset our hearts and choose trust over worry, faith over fear, and obedience over self-reliance.
Begin each day by acknowledging God before making decisions. Ask God for guidance before reacting to situations. Learn to pause and pray instead of rushing ahead. Trust God even when answers are delayed or unclear.
Walking forward with God means choosing dependence daily, not just when things are difficult but also when they seem to be going well.

To trust God will mean; to trust his character for instance that he cannot fail, he is faithful, it will also mean to trust his timing: we may be in hurry but when we trust him, we will not worry and finally trust his wisdom, he knows the end from the beginning.
When we trust him, worry and anxiety will be a thing of the past.
