When God Ran
Luke 15:22: “But the father said to his servants, ‘Bring out the best robe and put it on him, and put a ring on his hand and sandals on his feet.
If you are a believer, you are probably familiar with the touching story of the prodigal son that Jesus shared. Who do you think the father in the story represents? Jesus’ Father in heaven, of course. Jesus was giving us a picture of His Father, who is also our Father.
In the story, the father was seen running toward his son, who was returning home. (Luke 15:20) Do you realize that God is never described as being in a hurry in the Bible? He is always cool and composed. The only time He is portrayed as being in a hurry is in this story. Though improper in Jewish culture, the father held up his robe and ran. Where was he running to? Why was he in such a hurry?
The father was in a hurry because he had seen his son, who was still a long way from home. He was running toward his son as he could not wait to embrace and kiss his child again.
The father was in a hurry to clothe his son with the best robe. My friend, our Father has put the best robe — the robe of righteousness — on us. In doing so, He has reinstated us as sons of the Most High God, a position that we had lost when Adam fell.
The father was in a hurry to put a ring on his son’s hand. Like the authority that is invested in the signet ring of a rich man’s son, our Father is eager to put back into our hands the authority to invoke His name, so that we can walk in dominion every day.
The father was in a hurry to put sandals on his son’s feet to assure him that he was still his son — only servants went about barefoot. Our Father never wants us to feel like hired servants or outcasts. We are always His sons.
Beloved, if the Father appears to be in a hurry, it is only because He is in a hurry to assure you of your position as His precious child!

The father was in a hurry to clothe his son with the best robe,a sign of the robe of righteousness which is to reinstate us as sons of the Most High God,a position that we had lost when Adam fell.
The father was in a hurry to put a ring on his son’s hand which is to put back into our hands the authority to invoke His name, so that we can walk in dominion every day.
The father was in a hurry to put sandals on his son’s feet to assure him that he was still his son because He never wants us to feel like hired servants or outcasts. We are always His sons.

Yes, our God is a mighty and marvelous God, but He is not so distant that we cannot draw close to Him. What a gift to know that we can run to God and He will run to us.
I was lost but now I’m found, God has left everything to come and find me and bring me back to the fold. I was blind but now I can see that my God has come and rescue me.
God says if we call on him he will listen, he will never leave nor forsake us.
Thank you Lord that you look beyond my faults, my imperfections, my nothing and saw your daughter.

Thank you so much pastor for this devotion for a constant reminder of the love our father in heaven bestowed to us even when we have fallen short of His glory and geniuly repent or have a broken spirit . The bible said in psalm 51:17 a broken and contrite heart you, God, will not despise. And in Matthew 18:12 it says
What do you think? If a man has a hundred sheep, and one of them gets lost, will he not leave the ninety-nine on the mountain and go in search of the one that is lost?
The unconditional love of our father is been demonstrated in this parable as well . He love us even when we’re still sinners ,He gave His ONLY begotten son for us ,He never condemned us ,He is not against us He is for us ,what a loving Father. We are now son and daughters of God as the bible said in 2corinthian 6:18 And, “I will be a Father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.”

God’s love knows no bounds and places us as great priority! Therefore, it is vital that we express that love back prioritising GOD first in every area and decision in our lives, which He is more than deserving of. This devotional is so deep, God did not have to, but in His infinite mercy, during this only occasion He is portrayed as being in a hurry is in this story, just to show us how willing He is to demonstrate His love and shower us with His best, even when we don’t deserve it – THANK YOU LORD FOR YOUR GRACE! I am in awe of God and this devotional made me fall in love with God even more. His exceptional love is worth giving my life to Him for and embracing everyday of my life. This shows us that GOD will always go out of his way to show us his love, mercy and tender kindness. He told Jeremiah I have loved thee with an everlasting love, therefore with loving kindness have I drawn thee. GOD through his son Jesus Christ loves us with an everlasting love and will continually draw us to himself with loving kindness just as demonstrated in the parable of the prodigal son. Hallelujah.
